Data Journalism and D3
The data set included with the assignment is based on 2014 ACS 1-year estimates from the US Census Bureau, but you are free to investigate a different data set. The current data set includes data on rates of income, obesity, poverty, etc. by state. MOE stands for "margin of error."
D3 Dabbler
Scatter plot created to show relationship between pairs of the data variables (X-Axis variables: In poverty (%), Lacks Healthcare (%), Median Income ($) Y-Axis variables: Smokes (%), Obesity (%), Median Age).
Observations
- West Virginia and Kentucky have high smoking % and high poverty %
- Colorado lowest obesity. Hawaii and Washington DC lowest obesity and highest median income.
- Mississipi, West Virginia, Arkansas highest obesity, lowest median income.
- Maryland highest median income
- New Hamshire lowest % in poverty
- Texas highest % lacking healthcare
